The Biology Exam
Students in a high school Biology class were taking their mid-term exam. The last test question worth 70 points was: 'Name seven advantages of mother's milk.'
One student, in particular, who was hard put to think of seven advantages, wrote the following:
It is perfect formula for the child.
2) It provides immunity against several diseases.
3) It is always the right temperature.
4) It is inexpensive.
5) It bonds the child to mother, and vice versa.
6) It is always available as needed.
And then, he was stuck. Finally, in desperation, just before the bell rang, he wrote …
7.) It comes in 2 cute containers.
He got an A.

Virtual Painting From China
This is a very celebrated Chinese painting. People have stood in line for hours at the Shanghai Museum to view it. It was reportedly originally painted between 85-1145 A.D. during the Song dynasty. It was repainted during the Qing dynasty. It measures 5 meters wide and 24.8 cm tall. It is considered one of the great art treasures of China and was exhibited at the Hong Kong Museum of Art last year.

What Does it All Mean?
I believe I have studied under the best of the best teachers when it comes to what the Bible lays out for us in the last days. Many are dazed at the rapid decline of America. The passage of health care wasn't about health care; rather, the socialization of America. America just came under the power of Saul Alinsky. But some of us, while grieved, look at the broader picture. So, this is how I see it.
Revelation, chapters 13 and 17, lays out a coming one-world political system, one-world leader, one-world religion, and a one-world financial system (cashless). We don't know when this will all be implemented, but we do know the biggest factor holding up the one-world order has been America, the superpower like no other.
In the coming system, all nations will likely be "equal." That is, there will be no superpower other than, perhaps, the European Union -- a consortium of powerful European nations. Even some individual nations in Europe are crumbling as I write this so some of those nations will band together and become the end-time power. Economic chaos is likely to level the playing field of all the world's players on this strange chessboard.
Economic chaos will also bring down China and Russia, although both seem to have major roles in the last days as they invade Israel, one in the Gog/Magog war and one in the Battle of Armageddon. Their empires and land mass are enormous. But the number one superpower has been America and now we see her imploding due to corrupt politics, greed, love of self, love of power, and the personification of the Bible verse that says, "The heart is more deceitful than all else and desperately wicked; who can understand it?" (Jeremiah 17:9)
So the bottom line is that America has been the primary obstacle to the one-world system. We see the decline of the dollar which has been one of the major currencies for decades, yet it stands in the way of a one-world economic/financial system.
Barack Obama and others say we are not a Christian nation, but that is nonsense because the church in America, in spite of its weaknesses today, stands in the way of the coming one-world religion. On the other hand, we have the apostate church in the U.S. which will go along with a one-world religion. As this is being written, there is an assault on everything Christian in America. It is to strip us of our godly heritage and rid the U.S. of as much Christianity as possible.
This scenario is scripted in the Bible by the inference that as America didn't exist in Bible times: America has to diminish and Europe must rise. The man who could best bring this about promised America and the world "hope and change" and the uninformed bought it hook, line, and sinker. But Barack Obama is just one player in this global chess game. Nonetheless, he gave the world an image that he was the new "world leader" during the 2008 campaign. This is what the world longs for: A "man with a plan." There needs to be a one-world leader but it is not him.
Capitalism must go and must be replaced by a socialized world. You say this will take decades. Look at what has happened in just over a year! So not only are we threatened from without by radical Islam, we are threatened from without and within by a group of intelligent globalists who are convincing America and the nations of the world that the only way to lasting world peace is the establishment of global government. And all nations will have to be equal for this to work efficiently.
Globalists have no respect for the people who elected them; no respect for their office; no respect for the American Constitution; no respect for what it means to be entrusted by the people of any nation to serve in a high capacity. Their only maniacal goal is the consolidation of more money and power into the hands of the few in order to control and manipulate the entire world.
This coming system is not some prophetically speculative or futuristic fairy tale, but a real world reality outlined in the Bible. It is not some whacko conspiracy theory being advanced by the fringe society. It's an orchestrated agenda which God had planned for before the foundations of the earth.
But America has not made it possible for the globalists to get their agenda through until now. We see that through the corrupt-to-the-core Obama administration, they are pressing forward to the prize -- a one-world system with America subservient to the European Union. We just don't know the timing, nor the timing of the return of our "blessed hope" Who remains our only hope.
Because so many feel a foolish one-world system is the answer for global unity, I feel the words of Isaiah 66:4 have been in play for several years: "I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spoke, they did not hear, but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not."
God sent delusion and this is the result. He sent the delusion to fulfill His Word. It is strong delusion that is causing some Americans to stand behind globalists who will bring about a system outlined in the book of Revelation.
Where one gets in trouble with this kind of theology and opinion is when it leads to an "I give up" mentality. Good people stop fighting evil. Some just roll over. Some go into complete apathy and escapism. Remember the profound statement by Edmund Burke: "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing." Just keep expectations realistic and Bible-focused.
Now, what is the good news? We can only change the world by changing the spirituality of a culture. In the meantime, we can contend for the faith, preach the gospel, and be salt and light to a frightened world. And since all of the above are scripted, the final act is as well. We can know with certainty that the King of kings is coming back very soon. Right now some are wailing and calling this "escapist theology." Go ahead and wail.
I close with a statement by Randy Alcorn … "In Wall Street terms, Christ is bearish when it comes to investing on earth. His financial forecast for the world is ultimately bleak. But He's unreservedly bullish about I vesting in Heaven where every market indicator is eternally positive!"
What is happening is in the "all these things must come to pass" (Matthew 24:6) category. We cannot stop such events. We cannot alter the way it is outlined in the Bible. If you have the proper eschatology, all that is happening makes perfect sense. If you follow the Pied Pipers of Amillennialism, Preterism, Replacement Theology, Latter Rain, Kingdom Now, and more, you will be lost in the maze of bizarre current events.

Last Rites
A man, a non-practicing Catholic and who has not been to church for years, was struck by a bus on a busy street. He laid near death on the sidewalk as a crowd gathered.
"A priest. . .please. . .somebody get me a priest!" the man gasped.
Seconds dragged on but there was no response from the crowd.
A policeman, who shortly thereafter joined the crowd to check on what was going on, then yelled, "Isn't there a member of the clergy in this crowd to give this man his last rites?"
Finally, a little old Jewish man in his 80s stepped forward.
"Officer," said the man, "I'm not a priest. I'm not even a Christian. But for 50 years now, I've lived behind the Catholic Church on 2nd Avenue, and every night I overheard their services. I can recall a lot of it, and may I can be of some comfort to the poor man."
The policeman then instructed the crowd to stand back so that the old man could get to where the injured man laid.
The old Jewish man knelt down, leaned over the man, and solemnly intoned: "B-5 … I-19 … N-38 … G-54 … O-72."

Something To Ponder
As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back. Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin.
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. AMEN!!

A Comparison Between Arabs & Jews
It is common knowledge that the animosity between the Arabs and the Jews dates back thousands of years, long before most of today's nations have ever existed.
The Arabs and the Moslem extremists have long wanted to wipe Israel and the Jews completely off the face of the Earth ever since the State of Israel was established in 1948. In fact, the Arab/Moslem hatred for the Israelis/Jews is so intense that the Arabs in the Middle actually do not believe in co-existing with the Israelis, and in many Arab minds, Israel "does not exist".
It is worthy to note that for 1,500 years of Jewish diaspora, when Jews were scattered all over the world and before the modern State of Israel was established in 1948, the Palestinians could have literally formed their own state and distinct nation. But why they did not is an interesting question. It was only after the Jews started to "return home" (starting in 1948) that the clamor for a "Palestinian state and sovereignty" began.
Can you imagine what the world would have been like had there been actually no Jews?
Below is just one of many possible comparisons between the Arabs/Moslems and the Israelis/Jews.
The Arab/Islamic population today is said to be approximately 1.2 billion or about 20% of the world's population. Below is a list of Arabs/Moslems (or people of Arab ancestry, e.g., Arab-American, German Arab, et al) who have received the Nobel Prize between 1905 (when the first Nobel Prize was awarded) and 2000:

It should also be noted that compared to the Arabs/Moslems, to this day, [except for that one incident involving an American Jew who ran amok and killed several people a few years ago], there has never (yet) been any news in which Israelis/Jews:
* promote widespread brainwashing of Jewish citizens---men, women, children---to hate non-Jews;
* have training camps which teach Jews and sympathizers how to commit acts of terrorism, e.g., making and planting explosive devices to cause maximum damage, injury, and death to either fellow Jews and/or non-Jews;
* hijack planes to commit terrorist acts;
* kill non-Jewish athletes in the Olympic games;
* blow up one's self in public places and social gatherings---houses of worship (churches, mosques, synagogues), restaurants, weddings, etc.---with intent to inflict the most damage, harm and/or death to innocent people;
* maliciously destroy or vandalize buildings---e.g., churches, mosques, office buildings;
* have social activists leaders who call for "holy war" [jihad] and death to all non-Jews (or "infidels");
* proselytize and recruit potential terrorists from other nations.
It is also worthy of note that of all the nations in the Middle East, Israel is the only nation which has "made the desert bloom" and has produced food [fruits, vegetables, grains, livestock] to feed both Israel's citizens and neighboring Arab countries. Unbeknownst to most Arabs/Moslems in the Middle East, a good portion of their fruits and vegetables are grown/produced in Israel, transported to and repackaged (taking off all vestiges of Israeli labels) in Jordan, one Arab nation which has tried to remain "neutral".
Finally, regardless of how one feels about the various crises between Israel and her Arab neighbors, it is worth keeping in mind Benjamin Netanyahu's words:
If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence.
If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel.

It should also be noted that compared to the Arabs/Moslems, to this day, [except for that one incident involving an American Jew who ran amok and killed several people a few years ago], there has never (yet) been any news in which Israelis/Jews:
* promote widespread brainwashing of Jewish citizens---men, women, children---to hate non-Jews;
* have training camps which teach Jews and sympathizers how to commit acts of terrorism, e.g., making and planting explosive devices to cause maximum damage, injury, and death to either fellow Jews and/or non-Jews;
* hijack planes to commit terrorist acts;
* kill non-Jewish athletes in the Olympic games;
* blow up one's self in public places and social gatherings---houses of worship (churches, mosques, synagogues), restaurants, weddings, etc.---with intent to inflict the most damage, harm and/or death to innocent people;
* maliciously destroy or vandalize buildings---e.g., churches, mosques, office buildings;
* have social activists leaders who call for "holy war" [jihad] and death to all non-Jews (or "infidels");

Made In The U.S.A.
One day not too long ago, I was in Lowe's to check out garden hose attachments---they were all made in China. The next day, I happened to be in Ace Hardware, and again, I check out the hose attachments there---they were made in USA.
In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy can affect someone else, especially someone's job. After the above experiences with Lowe's and Ace Hardware, I have since made sure to check the labels of items I buy to make sure that I buy only "made in the USA" products in order to safeguard the jobs of my fellow Americans.
Did you know that a lot Hershey's candies are now made in Mexico? And Colgate, the toothpaste brand which I have used for years, is also made in Mexico now? (I have since switched to Crest).
Then, not too long ago, I was at Kroger's to buy some light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets. First, I went to the light bulb section. Right next to the GE brand bulb, which I normally buy, was an off-brand named "Everyday Value". I picked up one of each brand and type of bulb (60 watts), and I compared each brand's label. Both brands were exactly the same, except for the price and the place of manufacture. It was most surprising to learn that the GE bulb was not only more expensive but was also made in Mexico, while the Everyday Value brand was much cheaper and was made in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
Then, I went to the laundry products aisle to pick up some Bounce---I have loved Bounce and have used it for years. Once again, next to the Bounce was a brand of clothes dryer sheets called Everyday Value. In comparing the labels of Bounce and Everyday Value, I found that the Everyday Value brand was cheaper and was made in the U.S.A. while the Bounce brand cost more and was made in Canada.
So, right then I decided to stop believing the myth that products made overseas are cheaper, and I have since wondered whether the American public has been fed lies about outsourcing! The challenge to every American should make sure to check and compare labels of various products. Many [if not all] US-made products are actually cheaper and are just as good, if not better. Also, buying "made in the U.S.A." ensures job security for fellow Americans, and the job you save may be your very own or that of your friend, neighbor, or relative. Lastly. . .stop believing the myths and lies!

This May Save Your Life Or A Loved One's Life
In daylight hours, refresh yourself of these things to do in an emergency situation... This is for you, and for you to share with your wife, your children, everyone you know. After reading these 9 crucial tips, forward them to someone you care about. It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.
1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do:
The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do JUST THAT USE IT.!
2. Learned this from a tourist guide.
If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you ... Chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy.. The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.
4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their chequebook, or making a list, etc. DON'T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR , LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE. If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF, Repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it . As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.
5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.
If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side... If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)
6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. Stairwells are horrible places to be alone This is especially true at NIGHT!)
7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!
8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked 'for help' into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.
9. Another Safety Point:
Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird.. The police told her 'Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door..'
The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.' He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night.
10. Water scam! If you wake up in the middle of the night to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is a burst pipe, DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE! These people turn on all your outside taps full ball so that you will go out to investigate and then attack.
Stay alert, keep safe, and look out for your neighbors!

TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING THROUGH THE DESERT. DURING SOME POINT OF THE JOURNEY, THEY HAD AN ARGUMENT; AND ONE FRIEND SLAPPED THE OTHER ONE IN THE FACE.
THE ONE WHO GOT SLAPPED WAS HURT, BUT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING, WROTE IN THE SAND.
TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.
THEY KEPT ON WALKING, UNTIL THEY FOUND AN OASIS, WHERE THEY DECIDED TO TAKE A BATH.
THE ONE WHO HAD BEEN SLAPPED GOT STUCK IN THE MIRE AND STARTED DROWNING, BUT THE FRIEND SAVED HIM.
AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM THE NEAR DROWNING, HE WROTE ON A STONE:
'TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE'
THE FRIEND WHO HAD SLAPPED AND SAVED HIS BEST FRIEND ASKED HIM, 'AFTER I HURT YOU, YOU WROTE IN THE SAND AND NOW, YOU WRITE ON A STONE, WHY?'
THE FRIEND REPLIED 'WHEN SOMEONE HURTS US WE SHOULD WRITE IT DOWN IN SAND, WHERE WINDS OF FORGIVENESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY.
BUT, WHEN SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING GOOD FOR US, WE MUST ENGRAVE IT IN STONE WHERE NO WIND CAN EVER ERASE IT'
LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.
THEY SAY IT TAKES A MINUTE TO FIND A SPECIAL PERSON, AN HOUR TO APPRECIATE THEM, A DAY TO LOVE THEM, BUT THEN, AN ENTIRE LIFE TO FORGET THEM.

Now You Know
1) how piggy banks originated?
Long ago, dishes and cookware in Europe were made of a dense orange clay called 'pygg'. When people saved coins in jars made of this clay, the jars became known as 'pygg banks.' When an English potter misunderstood the word, he made a bank that resembled a pig. And it caught on.
2) why dimes, quarters and half dollars have notches, while pennies and nickels do not?
The US Mint began putting notches on the edges of coins containing gold and silver to discourage holders from shaving off small quantities of the precious metals. Dimes, quarters and half dollars are notched because they used to contain silver. Pennies and nickels aren't notched because the metals they contain are not valuable enough to shave.
3) why men's clothes have buttons on the right while women's clothes have buttons on the left?
When buttons were invented, they were very expensive and worn primarily by the rich. Because wealthy women were dressed by maids, dressmakers put the buttons on the maid's right, since most people are right-handed, and it would be easier to push buttons on the right through holes on the left. And that's where women's buttons have remained since.
4) why X at the end of a letter signifies kiss?
In the Middle Ages, many people were unable to read or write, so documents were often signed using an X. Kissing the X represented an oath to fulfill obligations specified in the document. The X and the kiss eventually became synonymous.
5) why shifting responsibility to someone else is called 'passing the buck'?
In card games, it was once customary to pass an item called a buck from player to player to indicate whose turn it was to deal. If a player did not wish to assume the responsibility of being card dealer, he would 'pass the buck' to the next player.
6) why do people clink their glasses before drinking a toast?
It used to be common for someone to try to kill an enemy by offering him a poisoned drink. To prove to a guest that a drink was safe, it became customary for a guest to pour a small amount of his drink into the glass of the host. Both men would then drink it simultaneously. When a guest trusted his host, he would merely touch or clink the host's glass with his own.
7) why people in the public eye are said to be 'in the limelight'?
Invented in 1825, limelight was used in lighthouses and stage lighting by burning a cylinder of lime which produced a brilliant light. In the theatre, performers on stage 'in the limelight' were seen by the audience to be the center of attention.
8) why ships and aircraft in trouble say 'mayday' when calling for help?
The French terminology m'aidez which means 'help me' is pronounced 'mayday.'
9) why someone who is feeling great is 'on cloud nine'?
Types of clouds are numbered according to their altitude, and nine is the highest altitude. If someone is 'on cloud nine', that person is floating well above worldly cares.
10) why zero score in tennis is called 'love'?
In France, where tennis first became popular, a big round zero on the scoreboard looked like an egg and was called 'l'oeuf' which is French for 'the egg'. When tennis was introduced in the US, Americans pronounced it 'love'.
11) where the term 'caddie' came from?
When Mary, who later became Queen of Scots, went to France as a young girl for education & survival, Louis, the King of France, learned that she loved the Scottish game 'golf'. So, he had the very first golf course outside Scotland built for her enjoyment. To make sure that she was properly chaperoned and guarded while she played, Louis hired cadets from a military school to accompany her. Mary liked this a lot and when she returned to Scotland, she took the practice with her. In French, the word cadet is pronounced 'ca-day'. The Scots pronounced it 'caddie'.

The Bank Account
A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.
As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.
I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait..'
'That doesn't have anything to do with it,' he replied.
Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.
Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged .. it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it.
'It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice;
I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with theparts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.
Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away.. Just for this time in my life.
Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in.
So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!
Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank.
I am still depositing.
'Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Honesty Is The Best Policy
One winter, Jack and his best friend, Bob, decided to go ice fishing. [For those who are unfamiliar with ice fishing, it is a common winter sport in the northern states.] They loaded Jack's minivan and headed north. On their way, they got caught in a terrible blizzard. They pulled into the nearest farm, where a very attractive lady answered their knock on the farmhouse's door. They asked if they could spend the night.
"I realize the weather out there is terrible and I have this huge house, but I've been recently widowed and I live alone. I'm afraid the neighbors will talk if I let you stay in my house." she explained.
"Don't worry," Jack said, "we'll gladly sleep in the barn, and as soon as the weather breaks, we'll be gone at first light."
The lady agreed, and the two men found their way to the barn where they settled in for the night. Come morning, the weather had cleared, and they went on their way. They enjoyed a great weekend of fishing.
About nine months later, Jack got an unexpected letter from some attorney. It took him a few minutes to figure out what the letter was all about, but he finally determined that it was from the attorney of the beautiful widow he and Bob had met the weekend they got caught in the blizzard. He immediately jumped into his car to see his friend Bob.
As soon as Bob opened the door, Jack asked, "Bob, do you remember that good-looking widow at the farm we stayed in during the blizzard on our way up north on our fishing trip last winter?"
"I most certainly do."
"Did you happen to get up in the middle of the night, go up to the house, and pay her a visit?"
"Yes, I did" Bob confessed rather embarrassedly after having been found out.
"And did you happen to use my name instead of telling her your real name?"
Bob's face turned red as he muttered, "Yeah, I'm afraid I did. Sorry, buddy. Why do you ask?"
"Well, she just died and left me everything."
And you thought it was something else, didn't you? Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

Sunken Ruins of Cleopatra's Palace
Plunging into the waters off Alexandria Tuesday, divers explored the submerged ruins of a palace and temple complex from which Cleopatra ruled, swimming over heaps of limestone blocks hammered into the sea by earthquakes and tsunamis more than 1,600 years ago.
The international team is painstakingly excavating one of the richest underwater archaeological sites in the world and retrieving stunning artifacts from the last dynasty to rule over ancient Egypt before the Roman Empire annexed it in 30 B.C.
Using advanced technology, the team is surveying ancient Alexandria's Royal Quarters, encased deep below the harbor sediment, and confirming the accuracy of descriptions of the city left by Greek geographers and historians more than 2,000 years ago.
Since the early 1990s, the topographical surveys have allowed the team, led by French underwater archaeologist Franck Goddio, to conquer the harbor's extremely poor visibility and excavate below the seabed. They are discovering everything from coins and everyday objects to colossal granite statues of Egypt's rulers and sunken temples dedicated to their gods.
"It's a unique site in the world," said Goddio, who has spent two decades searching for shipwrecks and lost cities below the seas.
The finds from along the Egyptian coast will go on display at Philadelphia's Franklin Institute from June 5 to Jan. 2 in an exhibition titled "Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt." The exhibition will tour several other North American cities.
Many archaeological sites have been destroyed by man, with statues cut or smashed to pieces. Alexandria's Royal Quarters — ports, a cape and islands full of temples, palaces and military outposts — simply slid into the sea after cataclysmic earthquakes in the fourth and eighth centuries. Goddio's team found it in 1996. Many of its treasures are completely intact, wrapped in sediment protecting them from the saltwater.
"It's as it was when it sank," said Ashraf Abdel-Raouf of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, who is part of the team.
Tuesday's dive explored the sprawling palace and temple complex where Cleopatra, the last of Egypt's Greek-speaking Ptolemaic rulers, seduced the Roman general Mark Antony before they committed suicide upon their defeat by Octavian, the future Roman Emperor Augustus.
Dives have taken Goddio and his team to some of the key scenes in the dramatic lives of the couple, including the Timonium, commissioned by Antony after his defeat as a place where he could retreat from the world, though he killed himself before it was completed.
They also found a colossal stone head believed to be of Caesarion, son of Cleopatra and previous lover Julius Caesar, and two sphinxes, one of them probably representing Cleopatra's father, Ptolemy XII.
Divers photographed a section of the seabed cleared of sediment with a powerful suction device. Their flashlights glowing in the green murk, the divers photographed ruins from a temple to Isis near Cleopatra's palace on the submerged island of Antirhodos.
Among the massive limestone blocks toppled in the fourth century was a huge quartzite block with an engraving of a pharaoh. An inscription indicates it depicts Seti I, father of Ramses II.
"We've found many pharaonic objects that were brought from Heliopolis, in what is now Cairo," said Abdel-Raouf. "So, the Ptolemaic rulers re-used pharonic objects to construct their buildings."
On the boat's deck, researchers displayed some small recent finds: imported ceramics and local copies, a statuette of a pharaoh, bronze ritual vessels, amulets barely bigger than a fingernail, and small lead vessels tossed by the poor into the water or buried in the ground as devotions to gods.
Alexandria's Eastern Harbor was abandoned after another earthquake, in the eighth century, and was left untouched as an open bay — apart from two 20th century breakwaters — while modern port construction went ahead in the Western Harbor. That has left the ancient Portus Magnus undisturbed below.

The Cat And A Crow
The below video clip is quite cute. Even if you’ve seen it before, it’s still worth viewing over and over ...
More importantly, after watching it … can't help but wonder … if the cat and crow in the video clip can get along very well, what's wrong with the rest of the world? Why the lack of harmony and care for one another, especially among human beings, who are supposedly the "most intelligent creatures", but who resort to abusive acts, disrespect, quarreling and killing? Enjoy!

Death
A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to
Leave the examination room and said,
'Doctor, I am afraid to die.
Tell me what lies on the other side.'
Very quietly, the doctor said, 'I don't know.'
'You don't know? You're, a Christian man,
and don't know what's on the other side?'
The doctor was holding the handle of the door;
On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining,
And as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room
And leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said,
'Did you notice my dog?
He's never been in this room before.
He didn't know what was inside.
He knew nothing except that his master was here,
And when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.
I know little of what is on the other side of death,
But I do know one thing ...
I know my Master is there and that is enough.'

Judgment In The Gulf
Thus saith the Lord God: Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, upon the fruit of the ground and the life of the sea, and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched. - Jeremiah 7:20 (paraphrase)
Many have destroyed my ocean, they have trodden my portion, they have made my pleasant portion a black desolation. They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole gulf is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart. - Jeremiah 12:10-11 (paraphrase)
And the word of the Lord came to America, and said,
Woe to you, O consumers, who drive when you could walk, who lust for goods that must be flown and shipped from far away in oil-consuming ships of land and sea and air, whose way of life must be preserved no matter the cost to my planet or to those whose lives depend on its health.
Woe to you, O producers, who pile greed upon greed, who drill and pump and ship and refine black gold with little thought of tomorrow, and sometimes not even today.
Woe to you, O presidents and politicians, who have one hand in the pocket of big oil and another tied by self-preservation, who fear to question the American way of life, that addiction to comfort fueled by fuel.
Woe to you, O environmentalists, who lose sleep over shrimp that will vanish and do not remember the eleven created in my image who died in the explosion, who wax eloquent about the suffering salamander and are blind to the plight of those who suffer most when my earth suffers.
Woe to you, O activists, who write articles that cry out "Earth care!", who fly on 747s to conferences and taxi to fine restaurants to network for the environment, who put up online petitions that millions can sign, on gadgets shipped in gas guzzling transport from overseas, gadgets that depend on coal to boot up.
Woe to you, O churches of the land, who tithe and fast, who preach and pray, who grow megachurches in the twinkling of an eye, who care about souls but not the land on which they live, which I too have made and called good. Woe to you who trust me not for their daily bread, but look anxiously to smoke billowing diesel to deliver them from their hunger. Woe to all who lift up their eyes to call upon my name, but who do not look down at that which they destroy by sucking up energy in their spacious megabuildings and at international gatherings to glorify my name.
Woe to all who feel pulled between fate and necessity, unsure of their needs and wants, confused about facts and propaganda, whose left hand knows the pollution created by their right hand but still have to feed their families, who have eyes to see and ears to hear but who are powerless to change the world economy.
Blessed are those who repent not out of fear but because they believe the Good News.
Blessed are those who know that "the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof," that they cannot ultimately destroy anything good I have created and over which I rule, who know that I am almighty and they are not, that I am the Lord still!
Blessed are those who know that I am a jealous God, who visits the environmental iniquity on their children and their children's children, even to the third and fourth generation, but also know that I am a God whose punishment does not last forever, that my wrath is only for a season, like that of a loving father toward his children.
Blessed are those who know that soon this earth will indeed be burned up, that the sea will be no more, and that the environment will pass away, not because of the folly of man but only in my gracious providence.
Blessed are those who know that they cannot save the planet any more than they can save themselves, no matter the extent of their good works, that I will create a new heaven and a new earth, just as I will clothe my beloved in imperishable bodies.
Blessed are those who have these truths written on their hearts, who know the promised future as a blessed present, who live with their God and their neighbor on the Garden called Earth as if the future were already so.
And the oil spewed forth for some forty days and forty nights, for the wickedness of the people was great, and the judgment of the Lord was upon the face of the earth. –By Mark Galli - Christianity Today
