It is common knowledge that the animosity between the Arabs and the Jews dates back thousands of years, long before most of today's nations have ever existed.
The Arabs and the Moslem extremists have long wanted to wipe Israel and the Jews completely off the face of the Earth ever since the State of Israel was established in 1948. In fact, the Arab/Moslem hatred for the Israelis/Jews is so intense that the Arabs in the Middle actually do not believe in co-existing with the Israelis, and in many Arab minds, Israel "does not exist".
It is worthy to note that for 1,500 years of Jewish diaspora, when Jews were scattered all over the world and before the modern State of Israel was established in 1948, the Palestinians could have literally formed their own state and distinct nation. But why they did not is an interesting question. It was only after the Jews started to "return home" (starting in 1948) that the clamor for a "Palestinian state and sovereignty" began.
Can you imagine what the world would have been like had there been actually no Jews?
Below is just one of many possible comparisons between the Arabs/Moslems and the Israelis/Jews.

It should also be noted that compared to the Arabs/Moslems, to this day, [except for that one incident involving an American Jew who ran amok and killed several people a few years ago], there has never (yet) been any news in which Israelis/Jews:
* promote widespread brainwashing of Jewish citizens---men, women, children---to hate non-Jews;
* have training camps which teach Jews and sympathizers how to commit acts of terrorism, e.g., making and planting explosive devices to cause maximum damage, injury, and death to either fellow Jews and/or non-Jews;
* hijack planes to commit terrorist acts;
* kill non-Jewish athletes in the Olympic games;
* blow up one's self in public places and social gatherings---houses of worship (churches, mosques, synagogues), restaurants, weddings, etc.---with intent to inflict the most damage, harm and/or death to innocent people;
* maliciously destroy or vandalize buildings---e.g., churches, mosques, office buildings;
* have social activists leaders who call for "holy war" [jihad] and death to all non-Jews (or "infidels");
* proselytize and recruit potential terrorists from other nations.
It is also worthy of note that of all the nations in the Middle East, Israel is the only nation which has "made the desert bloom" and has produced food [fruits, vegetables, grains, livestock] to feed both Israel's citizens and neighboring Arab countries. Unbeknownst to most Arabs/Moslems in the Middle East, a good portion of their fruits and vegetables are grown/produced in Israel, transported to and repackaged (taking off all vestiges of Israeli labels) in Jordan, one Arab nation which has tried to remain "neutral".
Finally, regardless of how one feels about the various crises between Israel and her Arab neighbors, it is worth keeping in mind Benjamin Netanyahu's words:
If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence.
If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel.
