In the 21st Century, ISIS has arguably exceeded the worst of the Holocaust in its level of brutality and cruelty.
ISIS “tortured the (expletive) out of the Christians and some died in the process,” said Sgt. Karam Saad of the Iraqi military, who was held captive in June 2014, as reported by the Christian Post.
“They would take some and lock them in a kind of casket, and set it on fire from the inside,” he said. “I only spent three nights in prison. During that time, I paid attention to how many guards were on duty and any signs of weaker security.”
This new revelation comes on the heels of reports that thousands of Christians are being persecuted by ISIS, which uses churches as torture chambers where Christians are forced to convert to Islam or are killed, according to a report released by Christian Freedom International.
The report noted that a Christian is killed every five minutes in Iraq by ISIS and other terror groups.
“Islamic State Militants in Iraq are using Christian churches as torture chambers where they force Christians to either convert to Islam or die,” said Jim Jacobson, the president of the faith-based human rights group.
According to Aid to the Church in Need, a Catholic relief agency, ISIS this summer kidnapped a Catholic priest in Syria and sought a $120,000 ransom. The family raised the money, but ISIS killed the priest nevertheless.
None of this is new to those who follow ISIS.
“I do not understand why the world does not raise its voice against such acts of brutality,” Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarch Gregory III said last year in summing up ISIS’ persecution of Christians. –Western Journalism
