According to Jewish history and other historical accounts [and as also mentioned in The Bible], there was a Jewish exodus, the time in history when the Israelites led by a man named Moses left Egypt and wandered in the desert for 40 years. Reportedly, depending upon which historian one chooses to believe, the exodus took place either in 1200 B.C., 1445 B.C., or 1500 B.C. But regardless of the year, the fact remains that the event literally occurred.
One very important thing to note about the exodus is the reality that after Moses and the Israelites left Egypt, the people had to have food, clothing, and other basic needs and supplies of daily living. To feed between 2 to 3 million people even for one day only would have required a lot of food --- [let alone for 40 years]!
According to the US Army Quartermaster General, to feed between 2 to 3 million people for just one day, even by today's "advanced modern technology", would be a logistical nightmare. To have fed that number of people in one day only would have required:
1 … 1,500 tons of food. Logistically, that would require two freight trains, at least a mile long(!);
2 … 4,000 tons of wood to cook the food---remember the Israelites were in the desert! That would require a few more freight trains, each a mile long;
3 … 11,000,000 gallons of water for cooking, drinking, washing. That would require another freight train with water tank cars, 1,800 miles long;
4 … 750 square miles [or about two-thirds the size of the State of Rhode Island] of space for people to sit down and eat! The same amount of space was also required as a campground each time they stopped for the night. Additionally, one must also keep in mind, that there was an untold amount of livestock [flocks of cattle, fowl, goats, and sheep] which traveled with the people. and which also required food [grazing land] and water in the desert!
And one other thing, according to the story, it took one night for the Israelites to cross the Red Sea. If they went on a narrow path and walked double file [two people abreast], the line would have been 800 miles long and would have taken 35 days and nights in order for every Israelite to get through. Therefore, for every Israelite to have gone across the Red Sea in one night, there had to be a space in the Red Sea, 3 miles wide so that they could walk 5,000 people abreast.
Do you think Moses figured all of this out before he and the Israelites left Egypt? Most likely not!
There had to be an awesome, superhuman power who would have readily and faithfully provided the daily basic needs and provisions for 2 to 3 million people and an unspecified number of livestock in the desert for 40 years.
