While on an archaeological expedition, a member of the group discovered drawings on the wall of an ancient cave.
The cave was said to be at least 3000 years old. And the stone with the drawings was carefully chiseled out and brought to the museum, where archaeologists from around the world came to study the rock.
After months of study and deliberations, the experts decided to present their findings to the world. Members of the scientific community attended the presentation. The chosen spokesperson for the archaeological group that found the rock reported. Speaking in authoritative tones of an expert, he said:
"The first figure is that of a woman which suggests that this particular society must have held women in high esteem. "
"The next symbol, a donkey, would suggest that they probably used animals as form of transportation, and also probable helpers to plow the field.
The next drawing is a shovel, which further indicates that this group of people were tillers of the soil--an agricultural society, and users of tools."
The fish suggests that the people were not only farmers but also fishermen, who they lived near some body of water. And indeed, the cave where the drawings were found is just a few kilometers from the sea.
The last symbol is the Star of David which means they were evidently Hebrews.
The audience applauded enthusiastically after the presentation.
As the applause died down, a little old man in the rear of the room stood up and said:
"Hebrew is read from right to left. So the symbols actually say: 'Holy mackerel, dig the ass of that woman!"
