Most Americans Want Abortions Outlawed, Poll Says
Even a liberal news outlet like CNN is forced to reckon with the truth that America wants pro-life policy. CNN’s own poll reveals that 62 percent of Americans want all or almost all abortions outlawed.
The breakdown of the numbers shows how the nature of the question itself is vital to accuracy in the poll. In this case, pursuing the question one step further helped reveal the truth:
CNN asked the question, “Do you think abortion should be legal under any circumstances, legal under only certain circumstances, or illegal in all circumstances?” The survey found 25 percent of Americans want all abortions legal while 21 percent want all abortions illegal, and it had a large group of 53 percent of Americans saying abortions should be legal only under certain circumstances.
However, with a large percentage of Americans opposing abortions except in cases such as taking of the life of the mother, or cases of rape or incest — both of which, combined, constitute less than two percent of all abortions in the nation, according to the Guttmacher Institute — most Americans truly want 100% of 98 percent of the 1.2 million abortions a year made illegal.
A follow-up question CNN asked showed that to be the case.
When asked, “Do you think abortion should be legal under any circumstances, legal under only certain circumstances, legal in a few circumstances or illegal in all circumstances? ” CNN found the same 25 percent and 21 percent want either all abortions legal or all illegal. But, breaking down that 53 percent group further, CNN shows just 12 percent want abortions legal in most circumstances while 41 percent want most abortions to be made illegal.
In total, 62 percent of Americans want all or most abortions to be prohibited while only 37 percent of Americans want all or most abortions kept legal — the position of President Barack Obama and Planned Parenthood, the nation’s biggest abortion business.
So when parsed correctly, the majority of Americans want at least 98 percent of abortions outlawed. –American Vision News

Homosexuals Attack Baptist College “Lifestyle Statement”
Apparently, there’s something about freedom homosexuals don’t understand, or don’t respect. The liberal media and gay-activist writers are voicing “fear” over the Baptist Shorter University’s recently adopted faith statement which requires employees personally to reject unbiblical sexual practices including homosexuality.
Gay activist-journalist Laura Douglas-Brown writing for Georgia Voice—a gay and lesbian blog—relates,
“We now will live in fear that someone who doesn’t like us personally or someone who has had a bad day will report that we’ve been drinking or that we are suspected of being gay,” said the employee, who declined to reveal his name due to the policy. . . .
Employees must sign the document, which includes a notice that they can be fired for violating the policy: “I have read and agree with the Personal Lifestyle Statement and will adhere to it in its entirety while employed at Shorter University. I understand that failure to adhere to this statement may result in disciplinary action against me, up to and including immediate termination.”
Washington Post and New York daily News both picked up the story, likely hoping to drum up national attention toward an Equal Employment Opportunity case. Homosexuals have been working for years to achieve legal “minority” status so that they can sue religious groups for acceptance and employment. Indeed, just last month a HuffPost piece claimed, ”It’s official: Gay is the New Black.” So far, culture has not slid far enough to accept that reasoning.
This is an obvious case of activism. What homosexual applies to work, teach, or study at a conservative, Bible-based, Baptist University with the expectation that their homosexuality won’t be an issue? It’s clear that such a person feels a certain entitlement to be accepted, or expects to have the religious privacy of others suspended and silenced while they prance about the room. It’s clear that someone is trying to get use their position to make a civil rights case—a case which would trample the religious freedoms of Christians.
What makes this an issue, however, is the extent to which Shorter accepts government funding or accepts students who apply for federal loans or aid. As soon as government money gets involved in any way, you can expect trouble from the EEOC and a hundred other bastions of leftist nonsense. This only allows the homosexual activists to get one step closer to the type of case they covet so badly. –American Vision News

Spanking Could Result In Life Sentence If Bill Passes
As with so many bills, the devil is in the details of the legal language for this one. Despite the deceptive appearance of good intentions and even safeguards, this bill opens doors for leftist activists to exploit and oppress traditional family values. HSLDA reports,
“If Senate Bill 2180 passes the Mississippi Legislature, a parent would be in jeopardy of receiving a life sentence in prison for spanking a child. Sponsored by Senator Brice Wiggins (District 52-Jackson), this legislation would make it a felony to “whip, strike or otherwise abuse any child,” thereby causing “bodily harm” to the child. “Reasonable discipline” would be an exception to this offense. The minimum penalty upon conviction of this crime would be 10 years in prison. The maximum penalty would be life in prison.
Unfortunately, the terms “bodily harm” and “reasonable discipline” are not defined in the law, so it would be up to judges to determine whether parents had crossed the line and committed a crime worthy of imprisonment. Would bodily harm include inflicting pain or leaving red marks or bruises on a child? Is it reasonable discipline to use a switch, a paddle, or other object in spanking a child? Obviously there are differing opinions on this subject, and because of this, any child abuse legislation must precisely define terms to ensure that parents maintain the right to administer reasonable corporal discipline without fear of being imprisoned.
Home School Legal Defense Association will continue to track the progress of SB 2180 and work with the homeschoolers of Mississippi to bring about a defeat of this dangerous bill.” -Vision To America
