Don’t Worry

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." -The Words of Jesus Christ, John 14: 27

A long-time friend of mine, a man named Jaime, just returned from vacation. While away, he spent many days and hours with a 16-year-old autistic boy named Jason, a family friend. While driving with Jason the first day, Jaime said aloud something like, "Oh my gosh, we're running late...we're not going to get there on time."

Jason responded, "Don't worry, everything will be okay."

The next day, Jaime drove once again, with Jason once again seated near him in the car. Jaime said, "Oh my gosh, I forgot my coat...it looks like it may rain...I'll get cold and wet."

To which Jason responded, "Don't worry; we'll play in the rain! You like to play in the rain, don't you? It's fun to play in the rain."

Later in the week, same story, Jaime and Jason together in the car when Jaime realizes he's forgotten to charge the batteries in his camera..."Oh my gosh, I forgot to charge my camera."

To which Jason responded, "Don't worry, they'll have batteries there."

Jaime acknowledged that spending time with Jason was the best part of his vacation. Jaime had had no idea that God would place this precious, innocent individual in his midst who became a surprise blessing in his life. Jason helped Jaime to see the world from a simpler, better, peaceful, more "childlike" perspective.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, You said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you..." I want to be still in the powerful assurance of Your peaceful love more often. Bring peace to my soul when I need it the most. Amen.

Look back on your life...a few weeks...a few months...a few years. Think of a time when you remember being VERY upset or uptight about something or someone. How does the incident look to you now? If you had it to do all over again, how would you change your response or reaction?
