Robert Jeffress, a Southern Baptist minister, claims that “Christians” shouldn’t vote for Romney because he’s a Mormon, which Robert’s claims that Mormonism is a “cult”. In Robert’s warped theological mind “Christians” should only vote for Christians. HUH!?!
This is the most ridiculous statement and the whole thought process of Jeffress smacks of Religious bigotry and intolerance. Jeffress and the entire Southern Baptist denomination should be ashamed of themselves! Jeffress being a man of the cloth and thinking that only “Christians” can lead our country is religious insanity.
If you want to label Mormonism a “cult” then one needs to look no further than their own back yard, because all religions came into existence through human inspiration. For example; Martin Luther introduced Protestantism thus ending their ties with Catholicism. From Protestantism came the multitude of other religious organizations in existence today. Thus, one could argue that each religion is a cult and to some degree accurately so.
My thing is this. When are Christians going to put aside personal theological bigotry and intolerance and learn to get along? Using “Christianity” as a sword to kill one’s opponent is not Christ-like. And no matter who you are, judging another person’s faith is not our business, but solely God’s, which Jeffress needs to learn if he’s a true man of the cloth.
